Kourkoumelata village is in Lithathos, just 9 km from Argostoli, and is one of the most beautiful and tidy villages of Kefalonia.
The village was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1953, but with the help of the famous family of Vergoti, was completely rebuilt in a way that impresses the visitor with harmony and stunning design of residential and public buildings. All houses have large gardens full of flowers, but the one that stands out is the luxurious residence of Vergoti.
In Kourkoumelata, and within walking distance from the village, there are few accommodations and also some very impressive villas to rent. In Kourkoumelata there is a tennis court, a playground, a lovely square with palm trees, and a neoclassical building that houses the cultural center and the library.
Visitors can enjoy a coffee in the square admiring the magnificent view of the Ionian Sea.
