Germenata is a village located in northern Kefalonia. It is very close to Fiskardo and 49 km away from Argostoli.
The village is built on a hill and although it has no high altitude, the view will impress you as nothing stops the human eye to reach the coasts of northern Ithaca and southern Lefkada.
The houses are old, stone, pre-earthquake, built-in traditional way, and Germenata is characterized as a traditional settlement. It is one of the few villages of Kefalonia that had not been damaged by the devastating earthquake, in August 1953. Erissos is one of the few areas of Kefalonia, Ithaca, and Zakynthos not flattened by the consecutive earthquakes, measuring more than seven on the Richter scale.
In the last years in Germenata, there are quite a few lodgings, both modern and traditional, harmoniously blended into the lush green scenery.
Germenata is right after Antipata on the way to Fiskardo, on the Argostoli-Fiskardo country road. The village can be also reached by a road which begins at the old, well-known church of Antipata.
